For the Love of Place

The work of (l to R) Katy Fox, Dave Hall, Blake Luther, Stef Schroeder, and Sue Tyler.

There’s a palpable reason we live or visit here. The Tetons are still growing, and I think we, and especially artists, feel that energy. These five highly talented artists have been invited to participate in celebrating this place we call home.

OPENING RECEPTION AUGUST 8, 4-6.

Katy Ann Fox
I wander through the West witnessing windblown mountains and sunlight to gather emotion and imagery for my landscape paintings. My oil paintings host a feeling of peace and respect for the subject as I focus on texture and color harmony. I grew up in north central Idaho, moved to San Francisco, California for my Masters in Fine Art degree at the Academy of Art University and now make art at the foot of the Teton Mountain Range.

Dave Hall
I am moved by the half light of dawn and dusk, and my paintings are inspired by the Greater Yellowstone country of the American West. A piece of my heart resides there, due in large part to the poetry associated with the convergence of family and friends, moving water and mayfly hatches.

Blake Luther
Painting outside requires careful observation and editing because of the enormous amount of visual information. Keeping the notions of translation and transformation in mind when looking at the landscape guides me in mark-making decisions that develop my vision of a finished piece.

Stef Schroeder
I have lived in Teton Valley, Idaho since 1996.  Like so many in this area, I moved here for a season and have stayed for a lifetime.  Teton Valley is a feast for the senses!  A plein air painter’s paradise.  I am happy to say my two grown kids are close by… for now.  My husband, Clayton, and I have made a happy home overlooking the Tetons where we can watch the light change and enjoy a simple life.

Sue Tyler
I grew up in Idaho, wandering and riding my horse through the desert and foothills. As a child I was always sketching and doodling, eventually filling many sketchbooks with whimsical drawings. Today, my 50+ sketchbooks are windows to my consciousness.
