For me, photography is painting with light. It adds a level of emotional content to the visual story. Sometimes the absence of light, like the space between musical notes, is where the deepest emotions are touched. I feel truly grateful for its partnership in creating images.
Witnessing extraordinary light is a gift—the magic hour at sunset, the dramatic sunrise from the east side of the Teton Mountains, early morning fog on the Hudson, or the black and white world of winter. Using only natural light, the direction, temperature and vibrance of that light becomes more important than the choice of camera or lens. By allowing the light to lead, it is my hope that the
photographs offer a sense of reverence for having experienced ephemeral moments in time. The Earth is a beautiful place, and I feel grateful to be able to share my love and respect for our home.
